Caelonda is a four year old with a diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. Caelonda is a bright and social girl who enjoys playing with Barbies, listening to music, reading books and anything to do with princesses. Secondary to her diagnosis, she has significant weakness and low tone resulting in difficulty moving her arms and legs against gravity. She requires complete assistance to roll, sit, transfer and stand. Caelonda uses a ventilator to assist her with breathing. She communicates via some words, facial expressions or eye gaze utilizing a MyTobiiP10 device. She uses microlight switches at her fingertips to activate a power wheelchair.
